Your work will focus on enhancing the platform's key features while also balancing scalability, reusability, and performance.</p> <p>As a Staff Engineer on the Application Engineering team, you’ll serve as a senior technical leader - responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, scalable software systems that power Cohere Health’s core platform. You’ll act as a multiplier, elevating the technical bar for the team, mentoring engineers, and partnering with product, data, design , clinical and payment teams to deliver solutions that meet compliance, quality, and performance standards.</p> <p>This role is ideal for engineers who thrive on solving complex problems in healthcare, have deep expertise in building distributed systems including data solutions, and want to influence architectural decisions for security and scale, drive cross-collaborations for alignment, establish technical standards for consistency and evolve both application and data engineering best practices at scale.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Technical Leadership & Architecture</strong></li> <ul> <li>Define and drive the architecture of large-scale, distributed application systems across the Cohere platform.</li> <li>Ensure solutions are secure, performant, maintainable, and compliant with NCQA, CMS, and payer requirements.</li> <li>Champion platform engineering best practices in CI/CD, testing, release management, and observability.</li> </ul> <li><strong>Hands-On Engineering</strong></li> <ul> <li>Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, primarily in modern frameworks (e.g., Python, TypeScript/React, Java/Kotlin).</li> <li>Lead the development of core features and APIs that directly impact providers, payers, and patients.</li> <li>Partner with DevOps and Data teams to ensure seamless integration, scalability, and operational readiness.</li> <li>Build foundational frameworks and tools for automation to support regressions and user acceptance activities to enable stable releases and quality deliverables</li> <li>Manage definition and evolution of Data Structure , Data models , Data Catalog and adherence to Data Interoperality standards </li> </ul> <li><strong>Quality & Compliance Focus</strong></li> <ul> <li>Embed automated testing, monitoring, and release safeguards into the development lifecycle.</li> <li>Proactively address compliance and audit-readiness requirements in application design.</li> <li>Collaborate with Quality, Security, and Compliance stakeholders to close CAP issues and maintain high delivery standards.</li> </ul> <li><strong>Mentorship & Influence</strong></li> <ul> <li>Mentor engineers across the team, guiding them on technical design, code quality, and system thinking.</li> <li>Lead design reviews, technical deep-dives, and incident retrospectives to foster continuous improvement.</li> <li>Act as a thought leader in scaling engineering practices across multiple teams.</li> </ul> <li><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration</strong></li> <ul> <li>Work closely with Product, Clinical, Payment, and Operations teams to ensure solutions meet real-world healthcare needs.</li> <li>Partner with Release Management to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery and quick resolution of hotfixes.</li> <li>Adopt and mature scalable and sustainable delivery approaches and process agility such as In Sprint Automation and Releases by employing TDD/BDD methodologies and embrace continuous learning and improvement </li> </ul> </ul> <p><strong>ISMS roles and responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Good knowledge of Information practices.</li> <li>Assist the manager in all the information security activities implementation and maintenance process.</li> <li>Ensuring the team and imparted with Competence related to Information security</li> <li>Responsible for implementation of security policies and procedures and report any issues to the Information Security Manager.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>13+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a staff/principal/lead role</li> <li>Expertise in designing and scaling distributed, cloud-native applications</li> <li>Strong background in one or more modern languages: Python, Java, TypeScript/React</li> <li>Proven track record of driving system architecture, technical strategy, technical standards and execution</li> <li>Proven track record of designing data platforms and data models , delivering data solutions with experience in healthcare data interoperability and data standards as well as architecting and tuning solutions for performance , security , privacy and quality attributes of large volume of unstructured and semi-structured data sets both batch-oriented and streaming needs</li> <li>Experience working in healthcare technology Utilization Management or Payment Integrity Solutions or other regulated environments, strongly preferred</li> <li>Demonstrated success in mentoring and growing engineering talent</li> <li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and
