These systems power core parts of our business and must be scalable, reliable, and built to support rapid growth.In this role, you will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact features and improve how we build. You’ll contribute to system design, drive execution, and take ownership of meaningful parts of the codebase. Your Game Plan:You’ll design, build, and improve critical systems at Chalkboard, driving strong execution and contributing to engineering excellence.Build and scale product features and backend services that power core user experiencesContribute to system architecture with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performanceWrite high-quality, maintainable code and uphold strong engineering standardsPartner with Product and Design to deliver impactful features from concept to productionParticipate in sprint planning, estimation, and deliveryIdentify gaps in systems, processes, and code quality—and proactively address themImprove system performance, observability, and reliabilityCollaborate closely with engineers across pods to ship cohesive solutionsTake ownership of projects and drive them through completionContribute to a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvementWhat You Bring to the Team:~5–8 years of software engineering experienceStrong full-stack experience (Node.js, React, React Native preferred)Solid understanding of system design, databases, and scalable architecturesExperience working with modern data stores (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP)Proven ability to deliver and maintain production systemsExperience working in fast-paced, startup environmentsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partnersPro Points:Experience working on high-scale or transaction-heavy systemsBackground in payments, financial systems, or other mission-critical domainsExperience in sports betting, gaming, or real-time consumer productsExperience mentoring junior engineersWhy Chalkboard:We care about results, but also how we get there.
