<p><strong>ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p>Firmus Technologies is seeking an experienced<strong> Senior Mechanical Engineer </strong>in the Data Centre Infrastructure domain specifically in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) area to join our Engineering and Technology team. The successful candidate will be involved end-to-end in the design, engineering, commissioning and operational support of Firmus’ state-of-the-art sustainable AI Factory developments. </p> <p> </p> <p>This role is based in Australia, but travel is expected (10-30% time), primarily during the delivery phases of projects.</p> <p> </p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop design and key documentation from concept to commissioning.</li> <li>Assist in technical qualification, onboarding and management of 3<sup>rd</sup> party consultants and contractors.</li> <li>Carry out engineering design and calculations to provide system design for contractors. </li> <li>Provide final equipment selections including required capacities and efficiencies for procurement and construction.</li> <li>Review consultant designs.</li> <li>Review contractor mechanical workshop drawings and equipment selections.</li> <li>Assist in the creation of Operation and Maintenance manuals that shall include all maintenance requirements of systems and equipment. </li> <li>Carry out site inspections to ensure the installation is in-line with the relevant documentation and specifications. </li> <li>Participate in the commissioning of mechanical systems and ensure equipment and plant is operating at optimum performance. </li> <li>Develop technical engineering standards.</li> <li>Engage in R&D initiatives and design optimisation.</li> <li>Mentor junior engineers and assist with their technical development</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.</li> <li>8+ years of experience with a minimum of 5 years of Data Centre MEP experience.</li> <li>Strong working knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics fundamentals including the application of appropriate international design standards (e.g. ASHRAE)</li> <li>Familiarity with the Asia Pacific region and the application of local DC standards and norms is advantageous. </li> <li>Strong analytical problem-solving skills with an innate ability to work with ambiguous problems and develop effective and innovative technical solutions. </li> <li>Detail-oriented approach to work to ensure accuracy in design and testing and strong clear documentation. </li> <li>Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to articulate ideas and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders is a must. </li> <li>Demonstrated experience of working in a cross-functional multi-cultural teams. </li> <li>Excellent collaboration, organisation, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team</li> <li>Strong willingness to learn and proactively contribute to team and organisational goals.</li> <li>Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities with an eagerness to take on new responsibilities and learn on the job.</li> </ul>
