Achieve best in class printed material performance and cost of goods sold (COGS). Improve in-house printers, develop AM workflow software stack, implement novel print parameters, qualify printed material, and support development of aerospace applications. </span></p> <h2>The Role</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Act as a subject matter expert in Laser Powder Bed Fusion to drive high priority improvements to printed material capability, consistency, and total manufacturing cost. </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Independently define project scope, collaboratively align stakeholders, prioritize resources, organize technical data, and effectively communicate status of development activities. </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Characterize, control, and qualify improvements to in-house designed L-PBF equipment to produce high quality material in a repeatable fashion. </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Develop novel print file toolpath generation techniques and process parameters to meet cost and performance needs using internally developed software tools. </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Utilize and improve material qualification framework to fully characterize AM material properties and geometric capability. </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to advise on feasibility and risk assessments for new AM products or features. </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Author and maintain engineering specifications to drive printed material consistency with effective technical writing. </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Support technical disposition of AM quality non-conformances, and drive root cause corrective action for material or equipment issues. </span></li> </ul> <h2>Basic Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or related engineering field </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">5+ Years of professional hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing, and/or technical project management experience </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">5+ years - Developing L-PBF equipment, process parameters, and/or print file programming </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls (ITAR) </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to directly handle AM metal powders with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Able to carry up to 25 lbs. </span></li> </ul> <h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Excellent communicator with ability to present clear and concise technical information </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Proficient with materials engineering fundamentals (Stress-Strain, Fatigue, Microstructure, material property statistics, etc.) </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience with Aerospace Design for AM and ability to perform manufacturing trade studies grounded in first principles </span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Direct hands-on experience operating and programming Metal Additive Manufacturing Equipment</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience with root cause troubleshooting and repairing of mechatronic systems</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Proficient with 3D Modeling in Teamcenter / NX</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience utilizing and editing code for data analysis – Python and/or C++</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Demonstrated success with process parameter optimization through design of experiments and statistical analysis</span></li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to publish effective engineering specifications and standards</span></li>
