Scaled Cognition is an AI model lab building Super-Reliable Intelligence for the enterprise.
Scaled Cognition is an AI model lab building Super-Reliable Intelligence for the enterprise. The company's flagship model APT delivers human-like conversational fluency while eliminating hallucinations — powering AI agents that follow policy and take action when the stakes are real: bank balances, medical records, flight changes, insurance claims. Scaled Cognition's platform includes the model, agentic tooling, simulation and evaluation frameworks, and live agent monitoring. Founded by Dan Klein, a UC Berkeley professor of AI, and Dan Roth, who together built and sold one of the first agentic AI companies to Microsoft. As a Sales Engineer at Scaled Cognition, you’ll be the technical leader in our earliest conversations with the world’s largest enterprises — the person who turns the promise of AI into a working, reliable agent a customer can see, test, and believe in. Sitting at the intersection of pre-sales engineering, product, and enterprise architecture, you’ll partner with our Account Managers and Forward Deployed Engineers to translate complex CX challenges into production deployments built on Super-Reliable Intelligence. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Serve as the technical expert across the sales cycle — leading technical discovery, scoping solutions, and answering the hard questions about architecture, security, reliability, and integration. - Design and deliver tailored demonstrations of APT and our platform; build agents that prove out a customer’s real CX scenarios using GenAPI™ simulation and our authoring and evaluation tools. - Architect production-grade solutions that integrate APT into complex enterprise ecosystems through our stateless RESTful API, deployed in the customer’s VPC or public cloud. - Partner between Account Managers and Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) to discover, qualify, and shape opportunities into deployments with clear, measurable ROI. - Translate customer needs into sharp product and engineering feedback, helping Research and Product close the gap between what general models do and what enterprises need. - Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to every audience in the room, from C-suite economic buyers to hands-on engineering teams. - Help build the solutions engineering function — the demos, frameworks, and technical playbooks that scale with us. YOU MIGHT BE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB IF YOU - Love being in front of customers and moving fluidly between a whiteboard with engineers and a boardroom with executives. - Are technically inquisitive — you want to understand the architecture well enough to speak credibly about policy fidelity and deterministic action execution. - Get a charge out of building a sharp demo that makes an abstract capability feel real. - Thrive in ambiguity and are excited to be an early, foundational hire. - Are obsessed with craft, from the data in your demo to the words in your follow-up. KEY QUALIFICATIONS - 4+ years in sales engineering, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical sales, supporting enterprise deals. - A track record of building and delivering technical demonstrations and leading technical discovery with enterprise customers. - The ability to connect a prospect’s specific business problems to a technical solution and explain it to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Hands-on technical proficiency — comfortable with APIs and integrations, and with at least one scripting language such as Python. - Experience building relationships with senior stakeholders, including executives and technical leaders. - Bachelor’s degree or above, ideally in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. - Experience with function-calling LLMs, structured instructions, or agentic frameworks. - Bonus: Experience in the customer experience (CX), contact center, or BPO space. - Bonus: Experience as an early technical sales hire at a high-growth AI or enterprise software company.
