ABOUT PREQL Preql is building the AI-powered financial data platform for the modern enterprise. We're developing agentic AI workflows that help finance teams clean, transform, and structure their data without writing code. Think "Lovable.com http://Lovable.com for data pipelines" - just as website builders help users refine ideas into working apps, Preql helps users refine messy, fragmented financial data into production-ready workflows using natural language. Our customers include media companies, media networks, retailers, and manufacturers who need reliable metrics and automated reporting. The company is backed by tier 1 venture firms and previous data company founders. THE ROLE We're seeking a Product Designer to shape the user experience of our AI-powered platform. Working with the lead Product Manager and technical leadership, you'll make complex data transformation feel intuitive and trustworthy for finance teams. The role is initially part-time with flexibility to grow. WHAT YOU'LL DESIGN: - Conversational interfaces that make AI-powered data transformation feel as simple as chatting with a colleague while building sophisticated workflows behind the scenes - Interactive workflows where users refine data cleaning through natural language feedback and see results in real time - Dashboards and visualizations that surface transformation logic in terms finance teams understand and auditors trust - Design systems and component libraries that scale across web applications and integrations - Onboarding and education patterns that help non-technical users confidently adopt AI-powered tools KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Own end-to-end product design from discovery through high-fidelity prototypes and production handoff - Conduct user research with finance teams to understand workflows, pain points, and mental models - Translate complex data operations into clear, approachable interfaces - Develop and maintain a coherent design system that balances speed with consistency - Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure design intent survives implementation - Participate in customer demos to observe user reactions and gather feedback firsthand - Iterate rapidly based on product specifications and real-world usage patterns REQUIREMENTS - 4+ years of product design experience shipping web applications - Strong portfolio demonstrating complex workflows simplified into intuitive interfaces - Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma preferred) - Experience with interaction design, not just visual design—you think in flows and states - Ability to produce everything from rough wireframes to polished, production-ready specs STRONG ADVANTAGES Nice-to-haves, but not strict requirements. - Data/Analytics Product Experience: Previous work on dashboards, data tools, BI platforms, or analytics products - AI/LLM Product Design: Experience designing for AI-powered features, conversational interfaces, or products with non-deterministic outputs - Enterprise Software: Understanding of enterprise UX patterns—audit trails, permissions, bulk operations, admin workflows - Financial Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with finance team workflows, accounting concepts, or fintech products - Front-End Familiarity: Ability to read code, prototype in HTML/CSS, or work directly in design-to-code tools - Founding Team Experience: Previous experience at early-stage startups where you wore multiple hats WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE SPECIAL You'll define the experience layer for a product that sits at the intersection of AI capabilities and critical business workflows. Finance teams are skeptical of AI for good reason—your work determines whether they trust it. - Impact: Your designs directly shape whether enterprise finance teams adopt AI for their most important data - Ownership: Small team means you own design end-to-end, not just one piece of a larger system - Learning: Hands-on experience designing for agentic AI—a problem space with few established patterns TEAM & CULTURE Small, focused team where your contributions have immediate impact. Direct exposure to customer feedback, rapid iteration cycles, and well-funded runway to build something significant. NEXT STEPS Ready to design the experience for the future of data transformation?
