<p><strong>Opportunity Overview: </strong></p> <p>This is a remote-first role that may require travel to Boston, MA for new hire onboarding and occasional in-person team meetings and company events.</p> <p>We are seeking a Lead Engineer to join our Engineering department. In this role, you will work on a fast-paced, collaborative, agile team to build and enhance a growing software platform. You’ll have technical responsibility for end-to-end feature releases and platform enhancements delivered by the team. This is an opportunity to define the customer-configurability capabilities of the Cohere platform..</p> <p><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Actively support the technical design process, bringing your expertise and analysis to help make data-driven decisions</li> <li>Contribute heavily to feature design, development, testing, and delivery of our cloud platform and web applications</li> <li>Support all parts of our platform from the database to the frontend</li> <li>Continuously discover, understand, and implement new technologies & services to maximize development efficiency</li> <li>Contribute to a culture committed to testing, quality, and attention to detail by supporting best practices such as writing and maintaining comprehensive test coverage</li> <li>Actively participate in ensuring Cohere maintains a disciplined approach to healthcare security</li> <li>Foster a community of mentorship for junior engineers on your team</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you’ll need:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience</li> <li>Minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience in software development lifecycle</li> <li>Experience building applications using React and TypeScript or another modern web framework</li> <li>Fluency in Java</li> <li>Experience designing and implementing scalable data services and APIs</li> <li>Hands-on in-depth experience building and maintaining services using MongoDB, Elasticsearch, DataDog or Kafka, at least one</li> <li>Experience architecting and deploying software to modern cloud infrastructure using AWS and Terraform or CloudFormation</li> <li>You have experience working on software development teams, building and deploying full stack web applications</li> <li>You are passionate about building quality products and want to own product development end-to-end, with excellent design and development standards</li> <li>You can collaborate closely with teammates in product and design to build applications providing healthcare practitioners with the highest quality user experience</li> <li>You have experience with common software development practices such as version control, unit testing, and CI/CD</li> <li>You are a team player and are interested in working at a fast-paced startup environment</li> <li>Prior experience in healthcare and life sciences is a plus, but is not required</li> <li>Experience leveraging test frameworks such as Cypress, Jest, Mocha, JUnit, or Cucumber is a plus</li> <li>Experience leveraging Groovy and Micronaut is a plus</li> </ul> <p><strong>Pay & Perks:</strong></p> <p>💻 Fully remote opportunity with about 5% travel</p> <p>🩺 Medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and Employee Assistance Program </p> <p>📈 401K retirement plan with company match; flexible spending and health savings account </p> <p>🏝️ Flex Time Off + company holidays</p> <p>👶 Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave </p> <p>🐶 Pet insurance </p> <p>The salary range for this position is $155,000 to $175,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus.
