This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and project teams delivering large-scale industrial and nuclear infrastructure projects, including our flagship uranium enrichment facility.</p> <p>You will gain hands-on experience supporting integrated building systems design, multidisciplinary coordination, and construction planning for complex facilities. This role is ideal for a student or graduate who enjoys the intersection of structural, mechanical, and architectural disciplines within the AEC industry.</p> <p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p> <ul> <li>Support facility structural and mechanical design work for large-scale industrial infrastructure projects.</li> <li>Assist with the preparation of integrated structural and mechanical drawings and technical documentation.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with architectural, civil, electrical, and construction teams to ensure holistic building performance.</li> <li>Help coordinate complex structural and mechanical layouts within the building envelope to optimize space and functionality.</li> <li>Participate in engineering design reviews and project coordination meetings to track progress and resolve technical interface issues.</li> <li>Support high-fidelity BIM modeling using Revit to integrate multidisciplinary designs.</li> <li>Assist engineering teams with constructability reviews and design updates to streamline the transition from theory to field.</li> <li>Help address field design questions and Requests for Information (RFIs) during the construction phase when applicable.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What You’ll Bring</strong></p> <ul> <li>Current enrollment (Junior or Senior standing) or recent completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering.</li> <li>Strong interest in industrial infrastructure, energy, or large-scale, high-complexity construction projects.</li> <li>Proficiency in Revit is required; experience with AutoCAD or other BIM/rendering tools is a plus.</li> <li>A multidisciplinary mindset with a foundational understanding of how structural and mechanical systems interact within a facility.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills tailored for a fast-paced engineering environment.</li> <li>Interest and/or experience in visual programming (Dynamo, Grasshopper) or coding (Python) to support workflow automation.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Bonus Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Internship or academic project experience related to industrial building design or heavy construction.</li> <li>Exposure to facility planning for infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, or power-intensive sites.</li> <li>Interest in nuclear energy, sustainable industrial design, or critical infrastructure resilience.</li> <li>Familiarity with building codes and standards relevant to large-scale facility design.</li> </ul> <p><strong><span data-contrast="none"><span data-ccp-parastyle="heading 2">Additional Requirements</span></span></strong></p> <ul> <li data-leveltext="" data-font="Symbol" data-listid="4" data-list-defn-props="{"335552541":1,"335559683":0,"335559684":-2,"335559685":720,"335559991":360,"469769226":"Symbol","469769242":[8226],"469777803":"left","469777804":"","469777815":"hybridMultilevel"}" data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="1"><span data-contrast="none">Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.</span><span data-ccp-props="{"134233117":false,"134233118":false,"335551550":0,"335551620":0,"335559738":0,"335559739":0}"> </span></li> </ul> <p><strong>Equal Opportunity Employer</strong></p> <p>General Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.</p> <p><strong>Compensation and Benefits</strong></p> <p>The hourly pay range for this internship is <strong>$28–$40</strong> per hour, depending on the candidate’s current standing in school (i.e. sophomore, senior). <br>Interns will receive a monthly housing stipend and are elig
