This is a rare opportunity to design at startup speed and drive huge impact inside the largest gaming company in the world.</p> <p>We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Software Developer specializing in React Native and high-performance frontend development for mobile platforms. In this role, you will define the architecture, frameworks, and technical best practices.</p> <p>You will collaborate closely with engineers, product, and design teams to deliver best-in-class user interfaces that are performant, accessible, and delightful at scale. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across teams, mentor engineers, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in cross-platform frontend development.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Define and evolve the frontend architecture for client applications on mobile using React Native and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.</li> <li>Drive performance optimizations and best practices for rendering, startup time, and UI responsiveness.</li> <li>Design and integrate custom native modules (Native Android or Native iOS) and optimize cross-platform interoperability.</li> <li>Partner with product managers, designers, and researchers to translate user experience requirements into elegant, maintainable solutions.</li> <li>Establish coding standards, testing strategies, and development patterns that raise the quality bar for frontend engineering.</li> <li>Mentor engineers and act as a multiplier for frontend development expertise across the broader team.</li> <li>Investigate new frontend technologies, frameworks, and performance techniques, and guide their adoption when appropriate.</li> <li>Represent frontend/OS needs in technical and architectural discussions.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of software development experience, with significant experience building React Native apps or high-performance JavaScript/TypeScript applications.</li> <li>BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.</li> <li>Expertise in native Android development (Kotlin/Java/Gradle) and shipping applications to the Google Play Store.</li> <li>Strong expertise in frontend performance profiling, optimization, and debugging.</li> <li>Passion for delivering world-class user interfaces with exceptional performance.</li> <li>Deep understanding of cross-platform architecture and how to bridge between JS and native modules.</li> <li>Proven track record of delivering production-quality mobile or desktop applications with React Native.</li> <li>Experience designing scalable frontend architectures and reusable UI frameworks.</li> <li>Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with native engineers, designers, and product managers.</li> <li>Demonstrated technical leadership: leading projects, mentoring engineers, or setting engineering strategy.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Bonus</p> <ul> <li>A track record of building social, community, gaming, or other consumer products.</li> <li>Familiarity with VoIP, call dialing and ringing flows in Android/React Native</li> <li>Experience with accessibility, internationalization, and UI testing frameworks. </li> <li>Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern build systems for frontend development.</li> <li>Previous experience at an early-stage startup or on a zero-to-one product team.</li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p><em><span data-teams="true">At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.<br><br>Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. </span></em></p> <p> </p></div><div class="title">The estimated Ontario base pay range for this role is listed below.</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$141,900</span><span class="divider">—</span><span>$212,900 CAD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p class="p1">Please note, Sony Interactive Entertainment conducts background checks at the offer stage for all new employees (which may include criminal background checks for some roles) and will need to process personal information to support these checks.</p> <p class="p1">Please refer to our <a href="https://www.playstation.com/legal/careers-privacy-notice/" target="_blank">Candidate Privacy Notice</a> for more information about what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your data protection rights.</p> <p><strong>Equal Opportu
