Learn more at <a href="http://www.openeye.net/" data-tooltip-position="top">www.openeye.net</a>.</p> <p>OpenEye is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team.&nbsp; If you thrive in an innovative, collaborative, and casual atmosphere, apply today!</p> <p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Apex Server application using a combination of technical proficiencies, organizational aptitude and interpersonal skills, as well as learning and progressing with the evolving technology.</p> <p><strong>Role and Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Independently design, develop, and maintain software, including major architectural changes, high-complexity feature additions, performance enhancements, and bug fixes for critical problems.</li> <li>Lead significant development projects with minimal oversight. This includes scoping, designing, prioritizing, and collaborating as necessary to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.</li> <li>Collaborate with Product Management, stakeholders, and senior team members to design and deliver high-quality software solutions.</li> <li>Interface with various departments and sometimes customers to acquire critical information and address complex use cases.</li> <li>Provide guidance and mentorship to other developers (primarily Software Engineers and Software Engineer IIs) as needed when they have questions about coding practices, algorithms, processes, etc.</li> <li>Drive technical discussions across teams and departments, advocating for and influencing decisions related to tools, frameworks, architectural standards, and methodologies.</li> <li>Ensure high-quality code by conducting peer reviews, ensuring adherence to standards and promoting maintainable, scalable solutions.</li> <li>Proactively analyze input requirements from multiple sources (technical and non-technical) to deliver robust solutions that address broader organizational needs.</li> <li>Participate actively in Agile processes to identify bottlenecks and improve workflows.</li> <li>Exhibit strong follow-through by consistently delivering tasks to completion, ensuring feature success through testing, monitoring, deployment verification, and collaboration as needed.</li> <li>Demonstrate solid technical communication skills across various mediums (code reviews, design docs, emails, meetings, Jira, etc.), clearly articulating ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.</li> <li>Leverage AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM-based assistants, etc.) to accelerate design, coding, code review, debugging, and documentation tasks – consistently looking for opportunities to increase personal and team throughput without sacrificing quality.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p><strong>The Tech Stack</strong></p> <ul> <li>C++, Java, Spring, Git, GitHub, IntelliJ, Copilot</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications (required)</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field</li> <li>A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience</li> <li>Expertise in C++ and Java</li> <li>Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and development practices</li> <li>Ability to quickly learn new technologies and practices</li> <li>Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Strong quality ethic and test-first attitude</li> <li>Excellent communication and teamwork skills</li> <li>Hands-on experience using AI-powered development tools to meaningfully accelerate day-to-day software engineering tasks</li> </ul> <p>Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.</p> <p><strong>The Perks!</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Employees are eligible to purchase company stock at a discounted rate</strong></li> <li><strong>Collaborative, fun, creative culture where idea sharing is encouraged</strong></li> <li><strong>Casual dress (Jeans are welcome!)</strong></li> <li><strong>Medical, dental, vision &amp; prescription benefits starting day 1!
