Temporal Technologies provides an open-source durable execution platform that enables developers to build and run long-running, stateful applications—including agentic AI workloads—reliably at scale.

About Us

Temporal is an open source programming model that can simplify code, make applications more reliable, and help developers focus on the important things like delivering features faster. We are on a mission to be the reliable foundation of every developer’s toolbox, and are building the team that will make that happen.

Our values guide us —they are present in how we show up, make decisions, and work together to make an impact. We’re curious, driven, collaborative, genuine and humble.

Temporal is growing and we are looking for those who share our values, challenge 'standard' thinking, and want to influence our future. If you have a passion for improving the developer experience, building world-class open-source software and communities, and want to be a part of our amazing team, we'd love to hear from you!

Summary

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our high-impact team focused on product scalability, customer experience, and revenue growth. Our team owns business-critical services including customer onboarding and off-boarding, billing and metering, cloud marketplace integrations, customer-facing usage and cost reporting, and the account data integrations that keep revenue systems in sync across the business.

In this role, you'll lead technical direction and build systems that directly impact Temporal's revenue engine and customer journey. You'll partner closely with engineers, product managers, finance, revenue operations, support, and sales to design resilient architectures, drive cross-functional execution, and raise the reliability and scalability bar for our billing, metering, and customer lifecycle platforms. If you enjoy owning ambiguous, high-leverage problems and building durable systems that scale with the business, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

Lead the Design of Business-Critical Systems: Own end-to-end technical design and delivery for services that power customer acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, and revenue operations.

Drive Architectural Excellence: Define and evolve system architecture for high-throughput, fault-tolerant metering and billing pipelines; make principled tradeoffs across correctness, latency, cost, and operability.

Own Cross-Functional Execution: Partner with Finance, RevOps, and Sales to translate business needs into robust, scalable systems—anticipating edge cases, ensuring auditability, and aligning stakeholders on milestones and risks.

Own the Account Lifecycle End to End: Build the flows that carry an account from acquisition through activation, expansion, billing, and offboarding—self-service and operator-initiated onboarding, plan and SKU changes, suspension, dunning, and clean offboarding.

Keep Revenue Data Coherent Across the Business: Own the integrations and pipelines that reconcile control-plane state with CRM, support, analytics, and BI systems, so finance, support, and sales operate on the same numbers.

Build Customer-Facing Usage and Cost Transparency: Design the APIs and metrics surfaces customers use to understand their spend—usage APIs, cost reporting, and billable-action metrics—with the accuracy and latency guarantees that make them trustworthy.

Ensure Data Integrity, Reliability, and Compliance: Build and operate distributed data systems with strong correctness guarantees; implement monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks that keep revenue-impacting pipelines trustworthy.

Raise the Engineering Bar: Set quality standards through code reviews, design reviews, and operational readiness; introduce patterns and tooling that improve maintainability and incident response.

Mentor and Multiply Impact: Mentor engineers, unblock execution, and foster a culture of ownership, learning, and pragmatic excellence.

Improve Developer and Customer Experience: Identify opportunities to streamline customer flows via automation, better tooling, and targeted platform improvements that reduce friction and support load.

Technology Stack

Primary Language: Go

Data Storage: PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redshift, S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage

Data Processing: Kinesis, Firehose

Infrastructure: Kubernetes

Billing & Revenue: Metronome, Stripe

Go-to-Market Integrations: Salesforce, Segment, Pylon, Zapier, cloud marketplace APIs

Customer-Facing Standards: OpenMetrics, FOCUS

Core Framework: Temporal (of course 😉)

What You'll Bring

Significant experience designing and delivering production-grade backend systems (ideally in cloud environments) with meaningful ownership over architecture and operational outcomes.

Strong proficiency in at least one systems/backend language (Go preferred), with the ability to navigate large codebases and drive technical decisions.

Demonstrated experience building and operating distributed systems: concurrency, reliability, scaling, consistency, and failure handling.

Practical understanding of data pipelines and storage systems (e.g., Postgres, Redshift, Kafka/Kinesis, S3-like systems) and how to ens
