We’re building bridges between online, social and land-based gaming businesses to create amazing, integrated experiences that keep players in the game.</p></div><div data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody"><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">​We are looking for a Senior Server Engineer who would work closely with Product, Analytics, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and the Engineering team.&nbsp;You'll help shape the technical direction of our backend platform while delivering high-quality software, mentoring engineers, and driving architectural excellence.</span></div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></div> <ul data-editing-info="{"applyListStyleFromLevel":true,"unorderedStyleType":1}"> <li> <div data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate, Dropwizard) and related technologies</div> </li> <li> <div>Develop high-performance microservices, RESTful APIs, and service-to-service integrations for a highly available, distributed platform</div> </li> <li> <div>Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka and asynchronous messaging</div> </li> <li> <div>Build resilient integrations with internal and third-party systems, ensuring reliability through retry handling, idempotency, monitoring, and operational support</div> </li> <li> <div>Define and evolve event contracts, payload schemas, API standards, versioning strategies, and integration patterns in collaboration with Product, Analytics, and Data Engineering</div> </li> <li> <div>Drive platform modernization by reducing technical debt, simplifying legacy systems, and improving architecture through service consolidation</div> </li> <li> <div>Ensure services are secure, observable, maintainable, and production-ready through automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and performance optimization</div> </li> <li> <div>Lead production incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term improvements</div> </li> <li> <div>Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, pair programming, mentoring, hiring, onboarding, and engineering best practices</div> </li> </ul> <div><strong>What You'll Bring:</strong></div> <div> <ul data-editing-info="{"applyListStyleFromLevel":true,"unorderedStyleType":1}"> <li> <div data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">8+ years of professional software development experience with strong backend engineering expertise</div> </li> <li> <div>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience</div> </li> <li> <div>Advanced experience with Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Dropwizard</div> </li> <li> <div>Proven experience designing distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs, and backend integration patterns</div> </li> <li> <div>Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Kafka</div> </li> <li> <div>Experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and Oracle; familiarity with Redis is a plus</div> </li> <li> <div>Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, DevOps practices, and AWS</div> </li> <li> <div>Solid understanding of observability, including logging, monitoring, metrics, tracing, and production diagnostics</div> </li> <li> <div>Experience leading technical discussions, making architectural decisions, and mentoring engineers in Agile environments</div> </li> <li> <div>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences</div> </li> <li> <div>Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally <span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">#LI-REMOTE #LI-PROMOTE</span></div> </li> </ul> </div><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><div class="p-rich_text_section"><em data-stringify-type="italic">This role spans a wide breadth of experience at Rush Street Interactive, welcoming candidates with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and locations.
