Baton's ML infrastructure and model portfolio are maturing fast — from planning and scheduling optimization models to ETA prediction to Generative AI models — and this role exists to make sure that investment converts into measurable, durable value for Ryder and its customers. This role is crucial as we expand our long-term roadmap to build the next-generation freight technology platform.

As an early product manager at Baton, you’ll have an opportunity to make a huge impact through owning numerous mission-critical product initiatives. You'll own the 0->1 definition and prioritization of AI-driven product initiatives, partner closely with ML/infrastructure engineers and data scientists, and drive the transition of pilots and PoCs into production. We're looking for someone scrappy, technically fluent, and driven to turn ML capability into shipped products.

Responsibilities

Lead the full product development life cycle, from need-finding to product vision and execution

Own product strategy and roadmap prioritization for the ML Pod's portfolio of models and AI initiatives

Own the initiative to improve ETA prediction accuracy and other model metrics

Identify and address technological constraints that limit the growth of the business unit

Develop proposals and research different strategies to define our short-term roadmap and long-term vision

Work with design to drive prototyping and early ideation of new product features and capabilities across various logistics workflows

Partner closely with ML/infrastructure engineers and data scientists to prioritize the backlog against business impact

Define the go-to-market and adoption plan for AI capabilities across Ryder's freight and customer-facing platforms

Navigate relationships to execute cross-department projects touching every inch of the organization

Keep a mind toward future AI/ML product opportunities to help shape Baton's technical and product vision for 1, 5, and 10 years down the line

Minimum Qualifications

Experience owning product strategy and roadmap for a technically complex or ML/AI-driven product

Experience building 0→1 products and delivering exceptional user experiences or business outcomes

A proven track record of shipping traditional ML or Generative AI products

Experience taking an initiative through its full lifecycle: from PoC to production and monitoring/maintenance

Sufficient fluency in ML/AI concepts to prioritize effectively and earn engineering trust (not a hands-on/technical PM requirement)

Can quickly grasp whether or not AI is needed to solve the problem, and if so, can quickly determine what type of AI could solve it (prescriptive = mathematical optimization vs. predictive = traditional ML vs. generative AI)

Experience working with cross-functional and technical stakeholders across the organization

Ability to execute with minimal guidance

Strong data-driven analytical skills to back up assumptions and recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years experience

4+ years experience in product management

Comfortable in ambiguous situations, dynamic environments, and an understanding what fast-growing startups entail for PMs

Experience in a B2B SaaS environment, ideally within freight, logistics, manufacturing, or another operationally complex industry

Experience partnering with MLOps or ML infrastructure teams

The Perks

Competitive Base Salary + Cash Bonus Structure

Annual Company Bonus + Long-Term Incentive Plan

401k with Matching

Hybrid Work Schedule

Hyper-Stable, publicly traded Enterprise

Medical, Dental, and Vision Health Coverage

Employee Stock Purchase Program (15% discount to market value)

Collaborative, Fun, and Tech-Forward office in Hayes Valley, San Francisco, CA

<span style="font-weig
