Sage provides an AI-powered, fully integrated care platform designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality of life in senior living and skilled nursing facilities.

Sage is on a mission to improve care and quality of life for older adults, starting with those residing in senior living facilities. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults over 65. And yet, fall prevention and emergency response systems for older adults are archaic and ineffective. At Sage we've built a more modern way of understanding when older adults need help, including methods for residents to alert caregivers when in need of help, and corresponding software for caregivers to triage response. Our company mission is to create a product that our client counterparts love, and this role is a key part of that objective.

Sage is a small, tight team of ambitious, multi-disciplinary entrepreneurs. We are a software-enabled, mission-driven company, and are focused only on the problems that are central to achieving that mission. At Sage, we work hard and fast but also know that to build a truly important company, we need to treat our work as a marathon, and not a sprint. The journey matters.

About this Role

As a Senior Platform Product Designer at Sage, you will shape the foundational experiences that connect our products, users, and data across the Sage platform.

You will design systems and workflows that support caregivers, nurses, community leaders, and enterprise operators across senior living. This includes defining shared information architecture, navigation, permissions, design patterns, and cross-product experiences that make Sage feel like one clear and connected platform.

You will lead complex design initiatives from early discovery through implementation. You will work closely with product, engineering, analytics, implementation, and other designers to define the right problems, establish a clear vision, test potential solutions, and deliver high-quality experiences.

Reporting to the Head of Design, you will also help strengthen our design practice by contributing to platform strategy, mentoring other designers, and raising the bar for systems thinking and craft.

What You’ll Do

Platform Strategy and Systems Thinking

Define and evolve the information architecture, navigation, permissions, and shared workflows across the Sage platform.

Simplify complex systems into clear, intuitive experiences for users with different roles, responsibilities, and levels of technical experience.

Identify opportunities to create reusable platform capabilities rather than solving the same problem independently across products.

Partner with product and engineering leaders to influence platform strategy, sequencing, and long-term product direction.

Balance immediate product needs with the long-term scalability and consistency of the platform.

User-Centered Design and Research

Lead research and discovery for complex platform initiatives, from defining research goals and creating interview guides to synthesizing insights and applying them to product decisions.

Develop a deep understanding of how caregivers, nurses, community leaders, and enterprise operators work across different environments.

Create tools such as journey maps, service blueprints, role frameworks, and workflow models to help teams understand complex systems.

Translate research findings into clear design principles, requirements, and opportunities.

Validate concepts and prototypes with customers throughout the design process.

Product and Interaction Design

Lead the full design process, including concept development, workflow definition, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, and implementation support.

Design complex workflows that span products, roles, devices, and stages of the customer journey.

Create accessible, intuitive experiences that align with and strengthen our design system.

Partner closely with engineers to understand technical constraints and ensure designs are implemented with quality.

Use prototypes to communicate ideas, test assumptions, and help teams make decisions quickly.

Maintain a high bar for interaction design, visual craft, usability, and attention to detail.

Design Systems and Platform Patterns

Help define and evolve shared components, interaction patterns, and platform standards.

Identify gaps or inconsistencies in the product experience and lead efforts to resolve them.

Partner with designers and engineers to ensure patterns are reusable, scalable, and clearly documented.

Establish guidance for when teams should use existing patterns and when new patterns are needed.

Collaboration and Leadership

Partner closely with product managers, engineers, data teams, and operational stakeholders to define product requirements and priorities.

Facilitate workshops and working sessions that align teams around customer needs, platform principles, and design direction.

Clearly communicate design rationale, research insights, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Give and solicit thoughtful feedback that helps raise the quality of work across the design team.

Mentor other designers and model strong design leadership through your work.

Bring clarity and momentum to ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years of product design experience, including experience designing complex digital products or platforms.

A strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, interaction design, visual craft, and the ability to simplify complex workflows.

Experience leading end-to-end design initiatives from discovery through implementation.

Strong information architecture and
