You'll set technical direction, grow the engineers on your team, and partner closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to turn requirements into software our customers rely on every day. </span><span style="color: #000000;">This is a builder's role: expect to be in a design review, a customer conversation, and your team's code in the same week. Your role will focus on both building things well and also building the right things.</span></p> <h4><span style="color: #000000;">Responsibilities</span></h4> <ul> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Lead a squad of engineers, fostering collaboration and supporting their professional growth.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Set the technical direction for your squad and translate it into a clear, sequenced plan the team can execute.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Own architectural decisions across the full stack, from data model and APIs to the front-end.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Partner with product and design to shape the roadmap, not just deliver against it. Help the team decide what to build, then hold a high bar on how.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Provide mentorship to engineers across a variety of backgrounds and experiences.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Set clear performance expectations and provide direct, timely and actionable feedback.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Promote engineering best practices within your squad and across the entire engineering team.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">See around the corner to anticipate technical and resourcing challenges.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Ensuring collaboration in a remote / hybrid work environment across cross-functional teams.</span></li> </ul> <h4><span style="color: #000000;">Desired Skills & Experien<strong>ce</strong></span></h4> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Experience</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">5+ years delivering high-quality software products as a software engineer.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">5+ years managing software engineers, with clear ownership of your team's hiring, performance, and technical direction.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Technical depth</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Strong technical background building web applications with common frameworks. Ruby on Rails preferred, not required.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">A high bar for clean, readable, testable code, and the instinct to hold the team to it.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Experience architecting web applications, with a solid grasp of SQL and databases.</span></li> <li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
