This team works with our newsroom to innovate across storytelling formats, surfaces and experiences and the tools that power them.</p> <p>As a Product Manager, <span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="63de243a06df5cb33a571775dd91387b-0">you'll</span> support product development across a range of editorially grounded <span class="hl-blue-solid replace" data-highlight-id="3618d9ef42336d28899fcd90fd13b164-0">initiatives</span>. <span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="5d4edc3261630996ea8c8bf1c793541c-0">You'll</span> partner with editors, designers, engineers, and analysts to evolve how we inform and engage our readers. <span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="e9c558964e5ae2a830909464f9141e1d-0">You will have</span> a specific focus on growing weekly usage of our comment section.</p> <p>This is a NYC-based, hybrid role. You can expect to go into the office two days a week.</p> <p data-pm-slice="1 3 []"><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>Define a roadmap by gathering requirements, authoring tickets, organizing the product backlog, communicating with partners, and assessing bugs and feedback</p> </li> <li> <p>Translate product ideas or editorial needs into clear, tangible tasks for engineering and design partners, and helping maintain a prioritized backlog</p> </li> <li> <p>Lead team ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, retros) and promoting a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture</p> </li> <li> <p>Develop collaborative relationships with partners in Engineering, Design, Data, Project Management, Audience Insights, and the Newsroom</p> </li> <li> <p>Monitor product performance, gathering qualitative and quantitative insights, and using findings to inform product iterations</p> </li> <li> <p>Demonstrate support and understanding of our <a href="https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/" target="_blank">value of journalistic independence</a> and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will report to the Senior Product Manager, News Product.</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">: </span></p> <ul> <li> <p>2+ years of product management or relevant work experience</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience working in ambiguous, cross-functional problem spaces with multiple stakeholders</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">:</span></p> <ul data-pm-slice="3 3 []"> <li> <p>Demonstrated experience working with editors or newsrooms</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience growing an online community in a professional or personal capacity</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiarity with editorial format and publishing workflows</p> </li> <li> <p>An understanding of the evolving media, technology and news landscape</p> </li> <li> <p>A desire to grow as a product manager and learn from experienced product leaders<span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p> </li> </ul> <p>REQ-020540</p> <p>#LI-Hybrid</p> <p><span data-sheets-root="1"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Compensation and Benefits For This Role</strong></span><br><br>In addition to base salary, this role is also eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
