We are hiring a Head of Engineering to lead the technical vision, build the engineering organization, and ship the systems that define a new category of intelligence for executive teams. ABOUT THE ROLE You own the product, outcomes, and team. You will be responsible for turning an ambitious vision into a platform used by government leaders, executives, and their offices every day. You will work directly with the CEO to define technical strategy, expand the core product, recruit the founding engineering team, and establish the culture and operating principles that scale with the company. This is a hands-on role. You will spend the majority of your time writing code - balancing this with hiring, customer engagement, security, and architecture. This is a genuinely hard technical problem. We are building a context graph that connects people, organizations, events, communications, and institutional knowledge into a system that AI can reason over accurately, securely, and reliably. The product sits at the intersection of AI-powered intelligence, data infrastructure, agentic workflows, and enterprise-grade security. RESPONSIBILITIES Build the product - Own the technical roadmap for the web and mobile applications alongside the CEO, defining what gets built, why it matters, and how it gets delivered - Make foundational architecture decisions across data infrastructure, AI orchestration, integrations, subprocessors, security, and other product systems - Build and ship core product capabilities, staying close to the codebase and technical details as the company scales Build AI systems - Evaluate emerging AI models, tooling, and workflows and determine how they influence product strategy and engineering execution - Build agentic workflows that unlock efficiency and leverage for customers - Build agentic engineering processes that enable reliable shipping at incredible speed Lead the engineering organization - Recruit from day one, building a pipeline of exceptional engineers and closing key early hires - Define the engineering hiring bar and maintain a culture centered around ownership, urgency, craftsmanship, and customer impact - Lead a high-performing engineering organization, mentoring engineers and creating an environment where great people can do their best work - Scale the team thoughtfully, balancing speed with quality as the company grows Own security and compliance - Own system reliability, scalability, and security, ensuring the platform can support enterprise and government customers - Lead security and compliance readiness related to SOC2, NIST, StateRAMP/FedRAMP, and more Work with customers and investors - Partner directly with customers on technical requirements, integrations, security reviews, and product feedback - Represent the technical vision with investors, customers, and prospective hires WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Experience building products from 0 to 1 as a founder, CTO, founding engineer, or early technical leader - Strong engineering fundamentals across scalable backend systems, infrastructure, and production software; fluency with AWS, Python, and React - Experience shipping AI-native products, including work with agents, LLMs, context graphs, retrieval systems, evals/observability, and other modern AI tooling - Comfort working across the stack, making pragmatic decisions about architecture, technology, and execution - Proven ability to recruit and scale engineering teams - Strong product instincts; a high bar for quality, craft, and design - Customer obsessed; ability to meet with customers, find pain points, and translate them into technical solutions - High-agency operator who moves quickly, makes decisions with incomplete information, and takes ownership of outcomes - Experience building secure, reliable systems that customers can trust with sensitive information - Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with customers, investors, and partners on technical topics - Bonus: experience working with government and/or regulated industries - U.S. citizen (required for security clearance as needed) WHY JOIN CHIEF AI? - Founding-level ownership: the opportunity to shape the product, architecture, and culture from the earliest days - Work directly with Mayors, Governors, Congressmen, and CEOs solving meaningful problems for society - Work directly with the CEO as a strategic partner and to build the team that will define the company - Build a category-defining product at the intersection of AI, relationships, and decision-making - Work on technically challenging problems that are not yet solved for the most critical institutions around the world - Meaningful equity with competitive
