About First Connect:

First Connect Insurance Services is a digital marketplace providing independent insurance agents access to top US carriers and the optionality necessary to grow their businesses. Agents can work with 150+ carriers, selling various insurance policies, including home, auto, small business, and more. We're on a mission to overhaul the technology agents have access to, putting consumer-grade software at their fingertips. We've got thousands of active agents with hundreds joining monthly, and we plan to accelerate our growth.

Role Overview:

The core of our business revolves around retrieving and processing vast amounts of insurance carrier data. This isn't just about moving numbers — this data enables our most critical platform features and powers the entire agency commission cycle. You'll join a team that cares as much about why we're building something as how we build it.

We're looking for an engineer who can connect the dots between the data we process and the business outcomes it drives — someone who understands agent and carrier needs well enough to help shape the right solution, not just implement a spec.
You'll contribute to key data domains that power our core business, working comfortably with diverse data structures, real-time systems, and varying data quality. You'll also take part in a dynamic discovery flow — building POCs to validate the direction our product should take next. Our team operates in a highly dynamic, startup-like environment where priorities shift quickly based on customer needs.

This is a backend-leaning fullstack role: most of your day-to-day will live in data pipelines, integrations, and systems logic, with lighter, supporting exposure to the frontend.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you will contribute to:

Real-Time Data integrations and Commission systems, with your main focus on the backend/data layer — frontend exposure here is secondary, mostly around how that data gets presented.

Incentive programs, including our Rewards Program (Shared Growth Plan) and other new initiatives as they evolve.

Existing data pipelines across backend and frontend systems, supporting improvements, maintenance, and incremental development where needed.

Integrating and working with multiple data sources: build and maintain integrations with external systems, ensuring data consistency and reliability across pipelines.

Bringing a product mindset to your work: thinking about how the data and systems you build ultimately serve agents, carriers, and business goals — not just solving the technical problem in isolation.

Ensuring engineering quality: writing clean, maintainable code with a strong focus on testing culture.

Leveraging modern tooling and AI: using AI tools as an active part of your development workflow.

We might be a match, if you:

have 4+ years of commercial experience as a fullstack developer, with your strength primarily on the backend — you're confident writing NestJS services and PostgreSQL queries; frontend experience is important but doesn't need to be at the same level,

feel comfortable using Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL,

think like a product person as much as an engineer: you ask why before how, and you naturally connect your technical decisions to what agents, carriers, and the business actually need,

have a Startup Mindset: high ownership and the ability to navigate ambiguity. We are looking for people who want to build and grow, not just maintain,

are based in Poland with flexibility for partial US time zone overlap.

are fluent in English (C1) and Polish (C1).

You’ll get extra points for:

Advanced SQL & Optimization: Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, and handling large-scale datasets.

Our tech-stack:

TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, React, AWS

Docker and container-based deployment technologies (e.g. Kubernetes/Fargate)

Automated software testing on unit/integration/end-to-end levels

Recruitment process:

Send us your CV and fill out the application form – it's the best way for us to get to know you

Meet Karolina, our Recruiter for initial interview

Join a technical interview with our Team Members

Meet our team for a live coding interview

Talk with Hiring Manager

Join Wojtek and Ola for final stage call

... and welcome aboard! 👋

What benefits are waiting for you:

Salary

23000 PLN - 26 000 PLN net + VAT on B2B

Basics

<strong
